REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MINUTES

PRESENT:           Samuel Allen, Mayor

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council.

INVOCATION

Councilman Todd Rutledge lead the meeting in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Mayor Allen ask for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from the March meeting Councilman Austin made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor, the motion passed. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to approve the minutes from March meeting. Councilman Wyatt made the motion to accept the minutes. Councilman Austin seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS

Variance for Rahid Rashid – Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt made a motion to reduce the setback from 20 ft to 10 ft as shown on the site plans for property at 1444 US Highway 41. Councilman Austin seconded the motion. The motion passed

Taco Bell – Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt made a recommendation to approve Taco Bell to create a private street named Taco Bell Drive. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Donation to the softball team – After discussion, Councilman Austin said his concern is that if we give to one team other teams may request donations and he doesn’t feel we can give to every team. Attorney Bowen also advised that as a Government we can’t give donations of this type. The decision was made not to donate.

UPDATES

Attorney Brandon Bowen gave an update on the Sewer Project. At a special called meeting on May 28th at 6:30 pm there will be a vote on the change order required by USDA.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

ROAD AND STREETS

No new issues with roads or streets. Councilwoman Adams spoke to Steve with the county and he advised the estimate he gave is still good with no changes. There will be a vote to proceed with the road repair at the Special Meeting on May 28th.

Sheriff’s Report

Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.

LIGHTS

Councilwoman Adams reported no problems. Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt ask to have the light on the corner of the ballfield replaced with a LED light.

RECREATION

Councilman Rutledge gave the recreation report. Report is attached.

MAINTENANCE REPORT

Mayor Pro Tem Waytt reported Maintenance will bush hog the Ingle House grounds. Nothing new to report.

OPEN FLOOR   

Councilwoman Adams inquired about the Civil War Relics. It was decided to leave them in the current location at this time. Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt has someone that is going to build secure storage units for the collection.

The Ingle house sell was discussed. There are a couple options that Attorney Bowen is checking on and he will report as soon as he gets more information.

ADJOURMENT

Mayor Allen asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Rutledge made a motion to close the meeting. Councilman Austin seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
