CALL TO ORDER
Councilman Nathan Wyatt welcomed everyone to the Town Hall Meeting.
OPENING
After opening the meeting Councilman Wyatt turned it over to the City Attorney Brandon Bowen. Attorney Bowen gave a brief statement on what the meeting was about and opened the floor up to the public. Ricky Smith was first to speak. He wanted to touch on 4 things he would like for the Council to keep in mind. The first was the historical value of the Ingle House. The second thing on his list was it was an opportunity for success. It was in disrepair when purchased by the town, but it was saved by remodeling. The other issue was that there was LARP money used on the property in an effort to open the roadway. His last concern was value. The Town purchased the property at a reduced cost because of the mortgage crisis. It was an asset for Citizens of Resaca as well as Gordon County as a whole. He feels that a lot of the money came from SPLOST funds and therefore the house belongs to everyone in the county. He also feels that since the property is paid for and he believes that it is an asset that can continue to give to the community. He asked what incentives have been made to utilize the property.
Steve Wright was second to speak. He stated he is neither in favor nor against selling it. He said having a record of how much is actually spent on the house keeping it up. He also stated that it is not feasible for the town to purchase and keep every old house to be able to preserve it. He feels that the Council should explore every avenue before a decision is made.
Mr. Smith also ask about the tax payer loss and would there be a demonstration on what the funds would be used for and how the next project would work better. Attorney Bowen advised that we are not that far along yet.
Kevin Smith stated that the road is in the City and has nothing to do with the home itself. Councilman Wyatt advised that it was in the deed that the city would maintain the road.
ADJOURMENT
Councilman Wyatt asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Wyatt made a motion to close the meeting. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
