MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Allen welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council.
INVOCATION
Councilman Todd Rutledge lead the meeting in prayer.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.
MINUTES
Mayor Allen ask for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from the April 12th meeting Councilman Barton made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor, the motion passed. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to approve the minutes from May 10th meeting. Councilman Barton made the motion to accept the minutes. Councilman Wyatt seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Renew contract with JT Lawn Care Service –
Councilwoman Adams made the motion to not renew the contract. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed. A notice will be sent to JT’s Lawn Care.
Review Budget and approve for July Budget Hearing –
All council members had a copy of the budget and has reviewed it. Councilman Barton made a motion to run the ad in the newspaper and hold the Budget Hearing for July 12th meeting. Councilman Wyatt seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
Update Office and Lobby –
Discussed options for updating the Office and the decision was made to get prices on furniture and paint and bring it back to the July meeting.
Donation for Monument – Denise Melville
Mr. Melville asked the Mayor and Council for a donation of $1,000 to go towards the purchase of a Civil War Monument that will be placed on Chitwood Road. The donation will be needed by November 1st, 2016. Councilman Rutledge made the motion to give the donation. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
UPDATES
Ordinance Officer
Attorney Brandon Bowen is going to verify with Gordon County Administrator that the county will cover Resaca before Ordinance Officer Kelly Thurman’s position as Resaca Ordinance Officer is terminated.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
ROAD AND STREETS
Councilman Wyatt gave a report on The City of Calhoun repairing the damage that was done by them. All damaged areas have been repaired.
SHERIFF’S REPORT
Lt. Jimmy Shaw gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.
LIGHTS
No problems. Sandy Adams will be in charge of lights.
RECREATION
Councilman Rutledge gave the recreation report. Report is attached.
MAINTENANCE REPORT
Councilman Barton reported that we have an ant problem in the community center and need to have maintenance get something to treat it with.
