CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Allen welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council.
INVOCATION
Mr. Jeff Ruddell from the Gideons opened the meeting with prayer.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.
MINUTES
Mayor ask for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from the February 9th meeting Councilman Wyatt made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. All in favor, the motion passed. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to approve the minutes from February 9th meeting. Councilman Barton made the motion to accept the minutes. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Gordon County Commissioner Chad Steward
Commissioner Chad Steward gave an update on what the County has been doing. They county is making progress on the Georgia Chambers block grant and they are 73% complete at this time. They are 50% complete on the BB&T construction design. He also reported that the county will have a soft opening in April for the Resaca Battlefield and May 13th will be the official opening. He also mentioned that the resurfacing of Hall Memorial Road will be completed on July 1, 2016.
Purchase a Safe Box for the Office
As discussed in the work session, The Mayor asked for a motion to purchase a safe with inside hinges for the office. Councilman Barton made the motion to purchase a safe with a budget of $500.00. Councilman Wyatt seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed. The Clerk will purchase a safe within the $500.00 budget.
UPDATES
Sewer Project
Mr. Peoples gave an update on where we stand on the Sewer Project. The EPD have approved the plans and now they are on to the USDA for approval. We may need to have a public meeting in reference to the easements required for the project. He had to add an addendum to the engineering agreement at the request of the USDA and needed the Mayor to sign them.
Councilman Barton made the motion to approve the Mayor signing the addendum. Councilman Wyatt seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed. The Mayor signed the addendum.
Update from Attorney Brandon Bowen
Attorney Bowen is working on getting an agreement with Gordon County to utilize the County Ordinance Officer.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
ROAD AND STREETS
Councilman Wyatt reported that maintenance has patched several holes in roadways. He has attempted to contact Barry Hice with Gordon County about the tile put in at the brown church and Resaca Baptist. He also is working on getting the sidewalk on Walker Street repaired. He also reported that our Purple Hearts Signs have been ordered and we will have a memorial when they arrive.
Sheriff’s Report
Lt. Jack Jenkins gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.

No problems.
RECREATION
Councilman Rutledge gave the recreation report. Report is attached.
MAINTENANCE REPORT
Councilman Barton reported no maintenance issues. He would like to get the warranty information on the proposed pressure washer before purchasing. The Mayor added they should meet with Randy to make sure that the purchase can be justified and meet the town’s needs. Everyone agreed.
FROM THE FLOOR
Elaine Greeson said that the fruit baskets at Christmas were greatly appreciated.
Virginia Long also said they enjoyed the baskets. Councilman Wyatt added that we donated to the Shriners and the Gideons.

Mayor Allen asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Wyatt made a motion to close the meeting. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
