Application 1 – For Variance Set Back
Zoning Hearing for 1444 Highway 41, Calhoun Ga: Land Lot 85, 14th District, 3rd Section, Gordon County
Councilman Talley made the announcement at 6:40 if there is anyone in attendance who wishes to speak for or against this variance please sign in.

7:00 pm Councilman Talley called the Resaca Planning Commission to order. All planning committee members were present and Mr. John Tucker representing Rahid Rashid was also present. No one signed in to speak for or against the variance.
Councilman Talley read that we are having a variance hearing for 1444 Highway North, Calhoun Ga from Rahid Rashid to change the building setback from 40 feet along road front to 20 feet and change the building along the rear of the property from 10 feet to 5 feet. Councilman Talley ask if the applicant to step forward and state his name and address. Representing Rahid Rashid is Mr. John Tucker, 1715 Toonigh Road, Canton, GA 30115. He addressed the Planning Commission as to why he is asking for the setbacks to be changed. He fielded questions from the committee. Mayor Pro Tem Reed ask about a firewall being installed on the back side of the building and what it would be rated. Mr. Tucker said that construction could begin as early as 45 days once the variance is approved. Mayor Pro Tem Reed ask about the frontage and to clarify that it is from Soldiers Pathway. Mr. Tucker responded that that is correct. Councilman Talley ask if the gas tanks are going to be in the clear and Mr. Tucker advised that they are. Councilwoman Makonis ask about the parking. Mr. Tucker advised that it will stay as it is and can park approximately 25-30 cars. All of the exits will remain the same, 2 exits onto Highway 41 and 1 exit onto Soldiers Pathway. The exits will not be changed. There were no further questions. There were no quests signed in to speak for or against this variance. Councilman Talley ask for a motion to grant the variance. Mayor Pro Tem Reed made the motion to grant the variance. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Councilman Talley added that the variance could be appealed within 10 days.
